Hill Harper in the role of Dr. Marcus Andrews, a standing surgeon with specialization in plastic surgery, Richard Schiff in the role of Dr.Aaron Glassman, former attending neurosurgeon and president of St. Bonaventure Hospital, and Fiona Gublemann in the part of Dr. Morgan, a surgical resident who is competitive. Haven’t been to a hospital, this show will show you the reality that goes on behind the closed door of the hospital.

The series’ plot follows Shaun Murphy, an autistic young surgeon from Casper, Wyoming, who also suffers from savant syndrome. Shaun had a troubled past, and thus he relocated to San Jose, California. He starts working at St. Bonaventure, a prestigious hospital in San Jose. The story follows the young doctor as he tries to make it work for himself as he doesn’t feel the emotions of people around, thus making it difficult for him to make connections with his patients.

The doctor uses his extraordinary skills to help the patients of the hospital while, at the same time, he is trying to navigate through the new environment. As he is autistic, he suffers from several problems involving socialization and discrimination against himself. Soon Shaun is successful in his attempts to handle several patients and their surgeries.

The 18th episode of the series, titled “A Blip,” premiered on April 3, 2023, and centers around Shaun discovering that Dr.Glassman has used fewer sutures than normal in a surgical procedure. Shaun becomes obsessed with this discovery of his and tries to find the root cause behind Dr. Glassman’s sudden change in operative method.

He also reviews six months of Dr. Glassman’s work and realizes that maybe he is having trouble with his executive function. Shaun soon realizes Dr.Glassman’s brain cancer is back, and he tries to convince Dr. Glassman to get an MRI scan to know further. Lea suggests the reason behind Shaun’s obsessing over Dr. Glassman’s disease is his becoming a father and trying to save the only father figure he has in his life.

As Jared tries to fit in, he and Jordan are assigned a new case of a woman who has arrived with her adult daughter. After a physical examination, the woman is diagnosed with sleep apnea and other health issues resulting from sleep apnea. The daughter of the patient is solely responsible for taking care of her mother, and this fact irks Jordan as she relates with the daughter. As the only woman in Jordan’s family, she was expected to care for her brothers.

The patient decides to go the less risky route only to develop a septic infection which needed to be operated on to save her life. Jared confides in Jordan about his insecurities and this leads to a romantic moment between them. The sleep apnea patient encouraged her daughter to take an overseas job, which she rejected to take care of her mother. At the same time, Shaun, with a team of doctors, treats a woman who comes with apparent breathing issues to the ER.

The patient is also suffering from symptoms of long covid. On check-up, it is discovered the woman is suffering from a heart condition, which, if left untreated, would end up taking her life of the woman. Dr. Lim talks to the woman and encourages he to accept her new reality by telling her the story of her getting paralyzed.

The episode ends with Shaun confessing to Dr. Glassman the fear of losing him, as he is the only father figure he had as he is in the process of becoming a father himself. This convinces Dr. Glassman to get another MRI scan of his brain.

The Good Doctor Season 6 Episode 8: What To Expect?

The 19th episode of the show titled “Half Measure” will witness the team of doctors dealing with the diagnosis same women who came in the previous episode with prolonged COVID symptoms.

The doctors will also discover the woman may be suffering from something more serious than what they previously thought. Dr. Andrew and Villanueva must be content with the hierarchy of their position in the hospital and the effects it has on their relationship. The new episode of the show will have new cases for the doctors to solve.
