This Smoked Salmon Recipe is one of my favorites! I have made this a couple of times now on my smoker, and it will be made again. Now thankfully, I live in the PNW so getting salmon fresh here isn’t too hard to do.

This recipe would work on other types of fish as well, but this is amazing on Salmon. If you can’t get Salmon near you, I loved finding that you can get Seafood from Omaha Steaks!! I love getting my meat this way; no dealing with getting to the store, and you know exactly what is coming!

I made this for the first time in 2020 on my Pit Boss Pro 1100, my favorite way to cook low and slow! I picked up my Pit Boss Grill at Lowes, but Walmart and Amazon carry other Pit Boss options or the Pitboss website.I love the cost of them vs. other pellet smokers, it hasn’t disappointed me yet.

Smoked Salmon Ingredients:

Salmon– You can use freshly caught salmon or from the store. The salmon will need to have its skin on it for smoking. Atlantic Salmon works just as well in this.

Olive Oil

Sea Salt

Ground Pepper

Minced Garlic

Fresh Thyme

Fresh Dill

Parmesan Cheese

Lemon Juice

Lemon-This will be sliced to set on top of the salmon fillet.

How To Make Smoked Salmon:

Remove the filet and lay the fillet out. Your fillet will need to be thawed and not frozen for smoking.

You will want to lay the fillet onto foil folded to hold the fillet and then place the plate on a plate for easy transportation to your grill.

Drizzle your filet with olive oil and use a basting brush to coat the filet in oil.

Season to taste with Sea Salt and Fresh Ground Pepper.

Sprinkle on the minced garlic to taste.

Next, sprinkle the filet with your fresh thyme.

Finish off the seasoning part by spreading fresh dill on the top of the fillet.

Fun fact if you are unsure which is dill in the store, give it a whiff, and it will smell like pickles (Yes, I got a phone call asking what dill looked like from the old lady at the store)

Sprinkle the whole filet with shredded Parmesan Cheese.

Drizzle lightly with lemon juice, and then place lemon slices on the filet if you want.

The smoking process for this recipe is easy; all your do is set the cedar board with the salmon in the smoker and let the smoker smoke, and tend to the pellets.

Startup your smoker. I used Pit Boss Grills Mesquite pellets but you can use any flavor of pellets to smoke your salmon.

Money and time-saving tips from the old lady. If you order pellets online from Walmart and spend $35, they will drop them off at your door for free!! Their everyday price on pit boss pellets is amazing, plus the expert grill brand has a great price. (see them ->here)

Smoke on low or just your smoke setting for 1 hour.

Turn your smoker up to about 300 degrees for about 30 minutes to finish smoking and cooking the salmon.

You can also cook at 200 degrees or 250 for a longer cook time. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature of the salmon is cooked to 145 degrees for food-safe cooking temperatures.
